ALBA Berlin gained some valuable leadership at the point guard position with the signing of Jayson Granger on a one-year deal years, the club announced on Sunday. Granger (1.89 meters, 30 years old) arrives from TD Systems Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, where he averaged 3.4 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists in eight Spanish League games last season. He played just 2 minutes in the regular season, suffering a torn Achilles tendon in Baskonia's first game of the season. Granger missed the team's entire 2019-20 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague campaign and was able to return for Spain's season-ending tournament.
Granger started his career with Estudiantes of Spain and also played for Spanish side Unicaja Malaga and Anadolu Efes Istanbul of Turkey before spending the past three seasons with Baskonia. He has averaged 9.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in 148 games in the EuroLeague, in addition to playing 14 games in the EuroCup with Estudiantes. Granger is also a member of the Uruguayan national team.
