Zalgiris Kaunas announced on Saturday that veteran sharpshooter Arturas Milaknis will remain with the team through the end of the 2021-22 season. Milaknis (1.95 meters, 33 years old) is in his second stint with Zalgiris and is set to enter his 11th season with the Lithuanian powerhouse. Milaknis has helped Zalgiris win 9 Lithuanian League titles, as well as lifting the Lithuanian Cup and trophy seven times with the club, getting three Baltic League crowns and making it to the 2018 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four. Milaknis averaged 7.4 points on excellent shooting percentages (70.6% 2FG, 39.5% 3FG, 83.3% FT) in 28 EuroLeague games last season. In 209 EuroLeague career games with Zalgiris, Milaknis has amassed 1,465 points (7.0 ppg.) and hit 365 three-point shots to rank 12th in the all-time standings. Milaknis hit 42.2% of his shots from downtown and only only player ahead of him on that list has a better percentage - Jaycee Carroll (389-of-919, 42.3%). Milaknis also played for Zalgiris-Sabonio mokykla Kaunas, Kaunas Triobet and Rudupis Prienu of Lithuania, as well as for UNICS Kazan of Russia. Milaknis won another Lithuanian Cup with Prienu in 2013. He has also been a member of the Lithuanian national team, helping it get a silver medal at EuroBasket 2015. "Kaunas is my home, and Zalgiris is my favorite team. I am happy to stay here and wear the green-and-white jersey for two more years," Milaknis said. "We’ve got new challenges ahead of us."
