Panathinaikos OPAP Athens added a new face to its roster by signing forward Leonidas Kaselakis for the coming season, the club announced Friday. Kaselakis (2.03 meters, 30 years old) arrives from Promitheas Patras, where he averaged 8.1 points on 41.5% three-point shooting and 2.4 rebounds in 16 games in the 7DAYS EuroCup last season. He helped Promitheas to reach the Greek League finals in 2019 and the Greek Cup final this past season. The signing comes one day after Panathinaikos added Aaron White to the frontcourt.
Kaselakis started his career with Ilysiakos Athens, and he has also played for PAOK Thessaloniki, AEK Athens, AE Nea Kifisia Dimoulas Athens of Greece as well as for Astana of Kazakhstan, which he helped to win back-to-back league titles in 2017 and 2018 and a cup in 2018. Kaselakis has also been a member of the Greek national team. He helped Greece win respective gold medals at the FIBA U18 European Championship 2008 and the FIBA U20 European Championship 2009 plus silver medals at the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2009 and the FIBA U20 European Championship 2010. Kaselakis is set to make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut with Panathinaikos.
