Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul took the next step towards the start of a new era as it started training for the coming season. New Fenerbahce head coach Igor Kokoskov called together his team on Friday and went through the first drills ahead of the 2020-21 campaign. Kokoskov took over the coaching reins of the 2017 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion after the departure of legendary head coach Zeljko Obradovic. Fenerbahce slumped to a 13-15 record in the EuroLeague last season, though it won eight of its last 12 games for eighth place in the standings when the COVID-19 pandemic ended the season. Kokoskov will have a returning core including Nando De Colo, Jan Vesely, Melih Mahmutoglu and Leo Westermann. But the new coach also has a number of new players to the Istanbul club, including Dyshawn Pierre, Edgaras Ulanovas, Johnny Hamilton, Danilo Barthel and Lorenzo Brown. Fenerbahce will start the 2020-21 EuroLeague season on October 2 with a home game against Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade.
