Panathinaikos locks up talent Kalaitzakis until 2022

Panathiinaikos OPAP Athens locked up young talent Georgios Kalaitzakis for the next two seasons, the club announced Tuesday. Kalaitzakis (2.03 meters, 21 years old) played last season on loan from Panathinakos with Nevezis Kedainiai, where he averaged 12.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steals in 23 games in the Lithuanian League. Kalaitzakis started his career with Aris Thessaloniki and then joined Panathinaikos in 2015. He made his Greek League debut in 2016 at 17 years old and debuted in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague in December 2017 at 18. He has won three Greek League crowns (2017, 2018, 2019) and three Greek Cup titles (2016, 2017, 2019) with Panathinaikos. He also competed at the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament in 2017. Kalaitzakis, who has a twin brother who also plays basketball) has played for Greece's youth national teams and was the leading scorer at the FIBA U20 European Championship 2019.
