ALBA Berlin joined the growing group of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague teams to start practice for the 2020-21 season with its most important figure still on board - head coach Aito Garcia Reneses. ALBA's biggest off-season question was whether or not the veteran coach would return after ending the club's long German League crown drought. The 73-year-old agreed to stay in the German capital, and now the club is ready to improve on its EuroLeague showing from 2019-20, when its went 9-19 for 16th place when the campaign was halted by COVID-19. ALBA wound up winning Germany's season-ending tournament for its first league crown since 2008. Aito and the club management were able to keep a major part of the core together while also adding Jayson Granger, Maodo Lo, Ben Lammers, Simone Fontecchio and Louis Olinde. ALBA will open its EuroLeague season on October 2 at Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv.
