Panathinaikos OPAP Athens added another talent to its backcourt by signing point guard Nikos Diplaros. The deal is for one season with an option for the 2021-22 campaign. Diplaros (1.90 meters, 23 years old) returns to Greece after splitting last season between Montenegro and Georgia. He averaged 6.6 points, 3.0 assists and 1.1 steals in eight ABA 2 League games for Lovcen before moving to Batumi in Georgia. It was Diplaros's first season outside his native country. He began his career with Esperos Patras and has also played for Aris Thessaloniki, Machites Doxas Pefkon and Panionios Athens. At Panathinaikos, Diplaros reunites with Georgios Papagiannis with whom he helped Greece to the gold medal at the 2015 European U18 Championships. Diplaros grabbed another gold medal two years later when the European U20 Championships were held in Greece.
