Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade strengthened its frontcourt for the foreseeable future by signing playmaker Quino Colom until the end of the 2021-22 season, the club announced on Wednesday. Colom (1.88 meters, 32 years old) arrives from Valencia Basket, where he averaged 7.3 points and 4.2 assists in 26 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season. Colom ranked sixth in assists per 40 minutes (9.1) in the 2019-20 EuroLeague. He started his career with Lleida and also played for several Spanish teams such as Zaragoza, L'Hospitalet, Fuenlabrada, Estudiantes and Bilbao before joining UNICS Kazan in 2015. Colom made his EuroLeague debut with UNICS in the 2016-17 campaign, averaging 11.3 points, 5.7 assists and a PIR of 15.1 in 25 games. He ranks sixth all-time in average assists in the EuroLeague, with 4.9 per game in 51 career games. Colom was named to the 2017-18 All-EuroCup First Team and led the 2015-16 7DAYS EuroCup in assists. He is one of nine players to ever record a triple-double in EuroCup history, getting 15 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists with UNICS against Buducnost VOLI Podgorica on December 9, 2015, and one of two players who amass more than 40 PIR in consecutive games - Esteban Batista is the other. Colom has also played for Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul and has been a member of the Spanish national team, helping it win the World Cup title in 2019.
