Panathinaikos parts ways with Coach Vovoras

Panathinaikos OPAP Athens announced on Monday that it has come to a mutual agreement with Coach Georgios Vovoras to terminate his contract. Vovoras led the Greens to a 5-11 record this season, his first as the team's full-time head coach after twice previously serving as the interim boss. He joined the club as an assistant coach in May 2016 and serve Panathinaikos in that role under Coaches Argyris Pedoulakis, Xavi Pascual and Rick Pitino. Vovoras was also a Panathinaikos assistant between 2012 and 2014. Panathinaikos, which has lost four of its last five games, hosts Zenit St Petersburg and Coach Pascual on Thursday.

"I would like to wholeheartedly thank the Panathinaikos family, which I feel a member of after all these years I have spent here. We decided that for the good of the club we had to make this decision. Thanks to all the people I worked with on the team. I wish good continuation and good success to Panathinaikos," Vovoras said in a statement released by the club.
