Olympiacos Piraeus and swingman Shaquielle McKissic agreed to a two-year contract extension that will keep the sides together through the end of the 2022-23 season, the club announced Sunday. McKissic (1.96 meters, 30 years old) is in his second season with the Reds and averaging 10.9 points, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals in 23 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games – including seven as a starter. He leads the team in steals and is second in scoring and third in assists. Before joining Olympiacos, McKissic had played for Besiktas Istanbul, Usak Sportif Basketbol and Gaziantep Basketbol of Turkey, VL Pesaro of Italy, Changwon LG Sakers of South Korea, Herbalife Gran Canaria of Spain and Avtodor Saratov of Russia.
"The feeling is unbelievable," McKissic said in a statement on the club's website. "I am extremely grateful and happy that at some point I will be able to play in front of our fans again. This for me is most important… First of all, I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart the presidents, Messrs. George and Panagiotis Angelopoulos and Coach Bartzokas for the great opportunity they give me. Their move to renew our partnership before the end of the season is definitely a sign that they believe in me. Now it is up to me to perform on the floor and try to help the team win another EuroLeague. Last year, I came to the end of the season, so this year is essentially my first official year in the league. I've learned a lot and I have the opportunity to gain stability in a place I can call my home. I am very happy here and I hope our cooperation will continue beyond 2023!"
