Gilboa edges Maccabi to force Game 3 in Israeli finals

Kerry Blackshear starred with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Joe Thomasson tallied 17 points and 10 assists and Yiftach Ziv added 12 points, 3 steals and a key late block. Scottie Wilbekin paced Maccabi with 34 points, Chris Jones added 14 points and 5 assists and Ante Zizic corralled 13 rebounds in defeat. Maccabi will host Game 3 on Thursday night.
It was all Gilboa early; the hosts scored the game's first 6 points, took a double-digit lead on a three by Ziv, 16-4, and extended it to 23-7 before settling for a 30-16 advantage after 10 minutes. Wilbekin heated up for Maccabi, but Galil had all the answers and soared to halftime ahead 51-40. Maccabi started the second half with a 2-9 run to get back in the game, but Isaiah Cousins and Blackshear helped Gilboa restore a double-digit lead, 61-49. A three by Jon Dibartolomeo ended the third quarter with the score at 64-54. Maccabi slowly chipped away at the deficit before Wilbekin tied it at 74-74 with 2 minutes remaining. Thomasson countered with a clutch three, Ziv rejected Wilbekin on Maccabi's final possession and Thomasson iced the game from the foul line.
