TD Systems Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz made the first new addition to the team, bolstering its frontcourt with power forward Matt Costello who signed a three-year deal, the club announced Monday. Costello (2.10 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Herbalife Gran Canaria, where he averaged 10.2 points on 45.0% three-point shooting, 6.5 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 17 7DAYS EuroCup games last season, helping his team reach the semifinals. Costello led the 2020-21 EuroCup in blocks and ranked seventh in rebounds.
Costello started his career with Iowa of the G League and also played for San Antonio of the NBA, Austin of the G League and Avellino of Italy before joining Gran Canaria in 2020. He helped Austin win the G League title in 2018, and played in the final four of the NCAA Tournament with Michigan State University in 2015. Costello is set to make his EuroLeague debut with Baskonia in the 2021-22 campaign.
