FC Bayern Munich has signed point guard Corey Walden for the next two seasons, the club announced Friday. Walden (1.88 meters, 28 years old) made his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut last season with Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade. He averaged 10.5 points on 39.0% three-point shooting and 2.3 assists in 30 EuroLeague games last season as a part-time starter. At Bayern he will be reunited with Coach Andrea Trinchieri, who coached Walden at Partizan NIS Belgrade in 2019-20, when they helped the team clinch home-court advantage throughout the 7DAYS EuroCup playoffs before the season was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Walden was the 2018-19 MVP of the Israeli League regular season after putting up 18.4 points, 5.0 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game while leading Hapoel Holon into the playoffs. That was his second year with Holon; he led the team to the Israeli Cup and an appearance in the championship game the season before. Walden began his professional career with Maine in the D-League in 2015. He helped Telenet Oostende to the Belgian League and Cup double in 2016-17, his first season in Europe.
