Moment of silence in memory of Coach Ivkovic

The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague cannot start the celebrations for a new season without first honoring the memory of one of the greats of the game. A moment of silence to remember the late Dusan "Duda" Ivkovic will be held prior to tipoff at all nine Round 1 games this week.

Ivkovic, a two-time EuroLeague champion and dean of the coaching profession, passed away in his hometown of Belgrade, Serbia, earlier this month at the age of 77. He coached at 12 professional clubs in his native Serbia, Croatia, Greece, Russia and Turkey – including stints with current EuroLeague sides Olympiacos Piraeus, CSKA Moscow and Anadolu Efes Istanbul. Ivkovic led Olympiacos to EuroLeague glory in both 1997 and 2012 among a host of titles in a decorated career.

The moments of silence will be observed immediately prior to tipoff with the referees and each team's starting five already on the court. During these moments of silence, Euroleague Basketball urges fans and game participants to reflect on and respect the memory of Coach Ivkovic.

May he rest in peace.
