Olympiacos Piraeus big man Georgios Bogris enjoyed a special occasion to celebrate his recent 30th birthday: a visit to the club's latest One Team session, where he received a very fond welcome from a group of participants who love the opportunity to interact with their heroes.
The Greek giant focuses its One Team work on people with disabilities, encouraging independent life skills so they can live autonomously. The club wants to help people with disabilities participate in as many areas of life as possible, but also make them feel safe and secure.
A group of 25 participants aged between 17 and 42 have been involved, and the program has been so successful that although it was initially scheduled to finish in January, it has now been extended to March.
Bogris attended the latest session along with fellow One Team Ambassador Kostas Papanikolaou and representatives of the club's sponsor Bwin, and the video of the event makes it clear how much everybody enjoyed the occasion. It's a heart-warming example of exactly how One Team is using the power of basketball to improve lives.
One Team, supported by Turkish Airlines as the One Team Founding Patron and with the collaboration of Special Olympics as Proud Partner, uses basketball to achieve real social impact in our communities. Since its founding in 2012, the One Team program has reached already directly and indirectly 16,000 participants through its various team projects.
