Anadolu Efes Istanbul is continuing to contribute to the development of special athletes with a 16-week project as part of One Team, Euroleague Basketball's continent-wide social responsibility program.
The Turkish team, which received last season's One Team Gold Award for its outstanding work in the local community, opened up its activities to a wider audience by inviting fans and journalists to attend a special workshop at the facilities of the Turkish Sports Writers' Association.
In a session with the theme of 'Motivation', members of the Efes fan club spent time with special athletes under the guidance of coaches from the club and the Beylikduzu Municipality. There were lots of fun activities for everyone to enjoy, supported by the presence of Efes player and One Team Ambassador Tolga Gecim and the club's mascot Caylak.
Gecim was enthused about the opportunity to support One Team: "It is great to be here with the special athletes. We are trying to contribute to their community integration by helping them through basketball drills and metaphors. I want to thank our partner, the Turkish Sports Writers Association, for inviting us to their facilities and to all other partners for making our One Team Program better. We Are All One Team. I can't wait for fort he One Team Games!"
Fan club member Cigdem Yilmaz said: "I am really happy to be here as an Anadolu Efes fan supporting the One Team program that all EuroLeague and EuroCup clubs have been organizing. It has been a very special event in terms of making our special athletes happy and hopeful for life. I want to thank Anadolu Efes Sports Club and everyone else who supports this program."
Also in attendance was Oguz Tongsir, chairman of the Turkish Sports Writers Association, who met with the participants and enthused: "We are really happy to host these brilliant special athletes. Anadolu Efes is having a great season, winning many games. However, what is important is that they also win people's hearts. That is why I want to thank Anadolu Efes and Beylikduzu Municipality for this collaboration. Contributing to a program like One Team makes us happy and proud. This facility is their home and they can use it whenever they want."
Kahve Dunyasi, one of Efes's One Team partners, added flavor to the session by providing tasty treats, and the project is also supported by Damla Su, McDonald's, Sportive and Sporx.
One Team, supported by Turkish Airlines as the One Team Founding Patron and with the collaboration of Special Olympics as Proud Partner, uses basketball to achieve meaningful social impact in our communities across Europe and is supported by every club in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and 7DAYS EuroCup.
Since its founding in 2012, the One Team program has already helped more than 19,000 participants through its various team-focused projects.
