One Team commitment emphasized in meeting with clubs

Euroleague Basketball's commitment to One Team is stronger than ever. That was the key message in a video conference meeting with the 42 clubs from the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and the 7DAYS EuroCup last week.

The competition's social responsibility program has an even more important role to play in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, strengthening our mission of working with our local communities to ensure that people at risk of exclusion from society are not left behind.

One Team works to achieve targets set by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on reducing inequalities, providing education for all, achieving gender equality and promoting good health and wellbeing, while also supporting the World Health Organisation guidelines on Covid-19 response.

To achieve this, Euroleague Basketball and its clubs have already organized successful online sessions during the season so that One Team managers and coaches can keep on learning from each other, and be better prepared to face the various challenges presented by the current situation. As part of the #EUROLEAGUEUNITED campaign, One Team coaches and Ambassadors have also been supporting participants remotely during the recent confinement period, in order to keep them connected and active during a difficult time.

The video meeting discussed the close of the 2019-20 season. One Team programs and representatives are already shaping the delivery of the 2020-21 season, focusing on the health and wellbeing of participants and employees along with the various challenges facing local social entities. League executives confirmed that this season’s One Team Awards will go ahead as usual to recognize the excellent work undertaken over the last few months, while the usual pre-season One Team Annual Workshop will take place online this year to further prepare for the 2020-21 season.

Most significantly, it was emphasized that One Team remains the key social responsibility flagship for Euroleague Basketball, demonstrating the organization’s purpose-driven determination to constantly support its local communities.

And although the recent situation has forced many of One Team’s usual activities to change or be suspended, there has never been a more important time for clubs to stay together, keep connected and feed each other with innovative ways to deliver effective community work, remembering now more than ever the key message: #WeAreAllOneTeam

One Team, supported by Turkish Airlines as the One Team Founding Patron and with the collaboration of Special Olympics as Proud Partner, uses basketball to achieve meaningful social impact in our communities across Europe and is supported by every club in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and 7DAYS EuroCup.

Since its founding in 2012, the One Team program has already helped more than 19,000 participants through its various team-focused projects.
